Health across generations

We study how health, parenting and family relationships connect across generations, especially between caregivers and children.

Parenting · Mothers and children · Birth cohorts

How we approach this area

Social, family and care conditions are part of the context in which children grow and develop. In this area, we study how the experiences of one generation relate to the health and development of the next.

We are especially interested in the relationship between the mental health of those who give care and the development of those who receive it — not as determination, but as connected trajectories.

Following two generations over time offers a particularly valuable opportunity to study these relationships, as birth cohorts do.
